Global trade compliance specialist (m/f/d)
We are looking for a Global Trade Compliance Specialist (m/f/d) with a focus on EU and US export control regulations to support our team in Erfurt, Germany. In this key role, you will ensure compliance with complex and constantly evolving trade laws that directly impact cutting-edge technologies and sensitive components. You will work closely with the General Counsel, liaise with external legal experts, and act as the central point of contact for the entire X-FAB Group worldwide. At the same time, you will handle local German formalities and operational requirements. This role requires a combination of legal understanding, regulatory vigilance, and practical coordination with teams from engineering, logistics, and sales.

Your Role
- Ensure compliance with global export control regulations (EU Dual-Use, US EAR, ITAR).
- Manage German trade formalities in accordance with national regulations.
- Establish and maintain relationships with authorities (e.g., BAFA, customs).
- Monitor and interpret regulatory changes (export control, sanctions, tariffs).
- Collaborate with legal departments on licensing issues and risk assessments.
- Conduct product classifications (ECCN, HS codes) and compliance screenings.
- Support the development of internal policies and control systems.
- Train internal stakeholders on export control requirements.
- Maintain documentation for audits and government inquiries.
- Coordinate with technical departments to ensure compliant technology transfers.
Your Profile
- Approximately 3 years of professional experience in an international company in the field of export control or regulatory compliance.
- Master’s degree in law or economics with a strong understanding of legal texts.
- Excellent English skills (at least C1) and fluent German.
- Knowledge of semiconductor supply chains and dual-use goods is a plus.
- Experience with EU/US export regulations (EAR, technology transfer, “deemed exports”).
- Independent, structured working style and strong willingness to learn.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly convey complex requirements.
